Details

The region of Midian (or Madyan in Arabic) holds significant historical and religious importance. It is mentioned in both the Quran and the Bible as the land where the Prophet Moses (Musa) fled after leaving Egypt, and where he encountered the Prophet Jethro (Shu’ayb in Islamic tradition). In the Quran, Madyan is noted as the home of the people to whom Prophet Shu’ayb was sent as a messenger, warning them against corrupt practices like dishonest trade and rejecting God’s guidance.

Geographically, Midian is generally associated with areas in the northwestern Arabian Peninsula. The landscape is characterized by arid deserts, rugged mountains, and valleys. Historically, it was a hub for trade and home to nomadic tribes. In the Quran, Midian also features prominently in the story of Moses, who spent 10 years there, married Zipporah, the daughter of Jethro before he go back to Egypt and get the message to Pharaoh.
