Hisma Desert Day Tour: Red Dunes, Rock Art and a Golden Sunset

1 day · starts and ends in Tabuk · 4x4 Land Cruiser · 2–4 guests per vehicle A full day in the breathtaking Hisma Desert: towering sandstone formations, winding canyons and ancient rock inscriptions. Travelling by 4x4 along dramatic desert trails, we stop at key heritage sites to learn the history and stories carved into the rocks, then watch the sun set over the red dunes before driving back to Tabuk.

The day, step by step

• 10:00 Meeting point: board our four-wheel-drive Land Cruisers and set off on the desert expedition.
• 11:00 Inscription board: your guide gives a full historical and geographical introduction to the area.
• 11:35 Desert drive: head deep into the desert between the red dunes of Bajda and its towering sand rocks, stopping at beautiful spots along the way.
• 12:30 The little canyon walk: after crossing the dunes, walk between the rocks of a narrow canyon, about 30 metres there and back. Ask your guide for the best photo spots.
• 13:30 Lunch: we pick an ideal spot in a picturesque canyon for our picnic, with breathtaking views.
• 15:30 Wildlife reserve area: NEOM's new wildlife area, home to the region's native animals, plus a drive to more scenic spots.
• 18:30 Sunset dune: watch the sun go down over the vast Hisma desert as the red dunes turn to gold.
• 19:30 Drive back: about 45 minutes from the sunset viewpoint to Tabuk city.
